Hello from Finland!

We are entering the final days of our national team camp in Hämeenlinna. Our time here has been short but quite intense, and we have been training and traveling a lot during the past days. The team has changed a bit from last summer, and the new players including Jessica have integrated well with the more experienced members of the team.

Successful qualification for European Championships

We already secured our spot in the 2019 European Championship tournament during last summer so now we are playing for the top spot in our pool.

“The atmosphere was amazing, and as we played a full five-set match, we’re sure the crowd got their money’s worth of volleyball.” (Jessica Kosonen and Roosa Laakkonen)

Our first match was away against the Czech Republic. The gym of Jindrichuv Hradec was jam-packed with Czech fans who were cheering the home team on with drums and horns. The atmosphere was amazing, and as we played a full five-set match, we’re sure the crowd got their money’s worth of volleyball. Sadly, we lost the match 3-2 by a tiny margin, but we had a lot of good moments in the match. Both of us got subbed in and ended up finishing the game with a solid performance. We enjoyed playing and had lots of fun on the court!

Home game in Hämeenlinna

The next day we took off early and landed in Finland in the afternoon. Now we are preparing for our last match in the qualification phase against Estonia in Hämeenlinna (9.1.|18.30). It will be a tough match, but we are hoping for a large and loud crowd to cheer us on to our best possible performance.

We want to wish everyone a successful year and if you’re around Hämeenlinna, celebrate us qualifying for the European Championships!
