The first three weeks at the USC Münster were full of new experiences

Today’s Players Update: Roosa Laakkonen 2017-2

Roosa Laakkonen explores the sights of Münster.

Hello from Germany!

Three weeks has already passed in Münster. I think the fastest three weeks of my life so far!

Lots of fun things have happened. Practises are going well, teammates have been helping me with lot of things, me and Katja started our German language lessons and exploring the city is so interesting. There are so many cute cafés and bakeries I want to visit, luckily I still have almost seven months time to taste as many pastries I can… 😉

I have made a lot of interesting notes about the life in here and I want to give some examples.

If you live in Münster, you have to own a bike. Number one fact. Everyone bikes here and the view is really beautiful when we drive to the city passing all the horse and sheep farms and corn fields.

They serve sparkling water everywhere. First time I went to practise there was only sparkling water and I thought it was really weird. But now I wouldn’t drink anything else! People here also like to mix juice and sparkling water together. I’m surprised there are not coming sparkling water from the tap. 😉

One of the biggest things has been that here you actually have to pay to go to sauna. In Finland we think sauna is a normal thing in every house but here they have saunas only in some public swimming halls, sometimes even not in those. I miss real Finnish sauna. I never take it for granted anymore, hahah!

“Even though there is no sauna or no dip, Germany is already feeling like home.” (Roosa Laakonen)

For everyone who loves potato chips knows that you have to have a dip with them. German people seem not to be so big fan of them because you can’t find them anywhere! So, everyone who is reading this in Finland is very welcome to send them to me…. Thanks already in advance 😉

Even though there is no sauna or no dip, Germany is already feeling like home. I’ve enjoyed every day and can’t wait to spend the next months here.

We start Bundesliga 15th of October, so still many days left to get even better. Auf geht’s USC Münster!
