Players Update Roosa Laakkonen 2018-2

Hello from Finnland!

It was a crazy ride in the Golden European League. We finished 4th, which is disappointing, but the more the days go by, I start to realize how good we fought. We set our goals to get ourselves in the Final Four-tournament, which happened, and many good teams were left behind. Still, it feels a bit sad that we couldn’t finish the tournament to a win.

We have found our style to play […]! (Roosa Laakkonen)

But what is more important than winning and medals is how our team has developed in every way. We have found our style to play and we have so strong bond between us so we can trust that each and every one of us does the job for the team. We are having so much fun inside and outside the court. We are a young team and we had shown that we can go through everything. Example: The Bronze medal match against the Czech Republic. They are winning in sets 2-0, having a match ball in 24-21. What do you do in that situation? Are you thinking of giving up and saying that’s it, or are you still fighting and believing? We won that set 27-25. Never give up.

We are also playing games in Finland which makes it more fun! (Roosa Laakkonen)

Now we have a month-long break from the national team and having time to enjoy time with our families and friends (hoping that the sun will shine too). We need to recharge our batteries since in August we have new challenges coming ahead of us, European Championship Qualifications! We are also playing games in Finland which makes it more fun! I’m already looking forward to that!

But now it’s time to rest. We can be proud of what we achieved in this part of summer, so let’s enjoy it now. What I learned while traveling through Finland and Europe in these past four weeks is that sometimes you just go through the days with a planned schedule and forget to stop at the moment and appreciate every day.

Let’s remember that!
