Roosa Laakkonen and the Evreux Volley-Ball team start the playoffs. It’s about moving up to the French LAF.
Bonjour from Évreux!
What a season it has been so far! If I had to describe it with one word, it would be a rollercoaster.
We started our season at the end of September by winning the first game but losing the second. It almost started to become a routine of winning at home and losing in away games. We ended up being 5th in our pool throughout the end of the regular season, keeping in mind that only the top three teams could go to the playoffs. We put ourselves in a tough situation, battling against our rivals that also fought for the playoffs spot.
A long and emotional month
The past month was long and emotionally tough. We won games, keeping our hopes up for the playoffs, and then lost one what made us feel like it’s all gone. However, last week happened something amazing I’ll never forget.
It was our last game of the regular season, and we needed to win the pool leader at their home and get three points to go to the playoffs. ( If we won, we would also have to wait for the result of another game, hoping another team has three points.) No team has been able to win them like that this season so unmistakably, we were underdogs and somehow needed a miracle to happen.
But, guess what? We didn’t need any miracles, we played our best game and fought so hard, that in the end, we ended up having tears of happiness. We did it!
I’ve never felt so proud of this team. We are in the playoffs and have a chance to return to play in the Pro A League if we finish the season by being in the top two teams.
I feel like this is only the start for our team. We have so much to show to everyone and be grateful that we never lose hope for something we want. We, for sure, earned our spot in the playoffs.
